Boxing fans are in for a feast!

This was revealed at a Golden Gloves Press Conference yesterday:

“Show Stoppers” at Emperors Palace on 23 April, and

“Hurtin’ for Certain” on 10 June at Emperors Palace – both events live on Supersport.

No fewer than 4 erstwhile amateur champions are on the Show Stoppers undercard, an afternoon family day out with the eagerly awaited debut of the highly-touted Ricky Tshabalala.

Add to that Shaun Ness and Thulani Mbenge battling it out for the South African Welterweight Title – and the icing on the cake – the Glamour Boy of South African Boxing, Kevin Lerena, now co-opted onto the bill.

Fast forward to “Hurtin for Certain” on 10 June and a 4 – Fight Extravaganza which features Simphiwe Khonco one of the Jewels in the Golden Gloves’ Crown, making the second defence of his Title against Lito Dante of the Philippines.

Not to be outdone, Thabiso Mchunu and Johnny Muller trading fists for the ABU Cruiserweight strap.

The victor of the Mgenge/Ness encounter makes his international debut against the WBO Number 15 Jayar Inson for the ABU Title, with Lee Dyer defending his ABU Junior Middleweight Title against Alfonzo Tissen.

The future is certainly bright for Boxing in South Africa!
